Gimlet Labs Raises $300 Million to Build a Chip-Agnostic AI Inference Cloud
Gimlet Labs has raised $300 million in a Series B round led by Andreessen Horowitz, valuing the company at $3 billion and bringing its total funding to $392 million, meaning this single round makes up more than three-quarters of everything the company has raised to date. Sapphire Ventures joined as a new investor alongside first-time backers M12 and Arm, and existing investors Menlo Ventures and Factory both returned.
Solving AI's Growing Multi-Chip Problem
Gimlet Labs builds what it calls a multi-silicon inference cloud, software designed to run AI workloads across multiple types of processors rather than locking a company into a single hardware architecture. The platform disaggregates AI models and routes different phases of an inference workload to whichever hardware handles that specific task best, aiming to improve latency, throughput, hardware utilization, and power efficiency all at once, a problem that has become more pressing as AI companies increasingly mix GPUs, custom silicon, and other specialized chips within a single deployment. As frontier AI labs and hyperscalers increasingly diversify their hardware supply chains to avoid dependence on any single chip vendor, a software layer capable of orchestrating workloads seamlessly across that diversity becomes less of a convenience and more of an operational necessity.
Enterprise Customers Already Validating the Approach
Gimlet said in March 2026 that it had tripled its customer base and added one of the top three frontier AI labs and one of the top three hyperscalers as customers, a level of validation from the largest possible buyers in AI infrastructure that goes a long way toward explaining the jump to a $3 billion valuation. Arm's participation as a new investor is also notable, given the company's direct interest in how AI workloads get routed across the increasingly diverse set of chip architectures it licenses. Having both a leading chip architecture licensor and a major cloud infrastructure investor in Sapphire Ventures on the cap table alongside Andreessen Horowitz gives Gimlet strategic relationships spanning nearly the entire hardware and infrastructure stack its software is designed to sit on top of.
What This Means for Founders
Gimlet Labs's raise reflects how much enterprise buying power now sits behind infrastructure that helps AI companies escape dependence on any single chip supplier, a category likely to keep attracting large rounds as AI workloads continue diversifying across hardware types.
