Spantrik
Technology
Summary
Spantrik is developing a fully reusable medium-lift launch vehicle to drastically reduce the cost and increase the cadence of space access, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.
Notable Achievements
- Spantrik has achieved multiple first-principles technical milestones alongside strong external recognition. The team has designed, manufactured, and hot-tested an in-house cryogenic LOX–LNG rocket engine, and has progressed to vehicle-level VTVL flight testing, validating autonomous guidance, navigation, and control, thrust vector control, reaction control systems, and vertical landing logic on an integrated demonstrator. Spantrik’s work has been recognized nationally through Tech30 (YourStory, 2024) and the Digital Women Awards, reflecting both deep-tech execution and leadership. The company has also engaged directly with Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, senior Union Ministers, and state leadership, underscoring institutional confidence in its technology roadmap. Spantrik has received extensive media coverage across leading national platforms, highlighting its progress toward building India’s first fully reusable launch architecture.

The Business
Spantrik is building a fully reusable launch platform to address the rapidly growing demand for cost-efficient, responsive access to space. The global small-to-medium satellite market is expanding across Earth observation, communications, defense, and scientific missions, while existing launch options remain constrained by high costs, long lead times, and limited launch cadence. Spantrik’s reusability-first architecture directly targets this gap by enabling lower cost per kilogram, faster turnaround, and higher launch frequency compared to expendable systems.
The near-term business opportunity lies in dedicated and responsive launch services for commercial, government, and defense customers, with long-term expansion into high-cadence satellite deployment and constellation servicing. By validating reusability early through Leapfrogger and scaling toward an orbital system, Spantrik is positioned to capture a meaningful share of a market projected to grow into tens of billions of dollars this decade, while establishing India as a competitive provider of reusable launch services.

The Market
The global space launch services market is expected to grow from $12.6 billion in 2021 to $65.5 billion by 2029, driven by the increasing demand for satellite launches and the growing interest in commercial space exploration. Spantrik is targeting the small-to-medium satellite launch market, which is expected to see significant growth over the next decade, with an estimated 40,000 satellites to be launched by the end of the decade. The company's focus on developing fully reusable rockets aims to address the key challenges of the industry, such as high launch costs and limited launch cadence, creating a competitive advantage in the rapidly evolving space technology market.
Objective/Future (Use of funds)
The funds will be used to complete Leapfrogger, Spantrik’s VTVL reusable flight demonstrator. Capital will be allocated toward cryogenic engine iteration and hot-fire testing, vehicle structural fabrication, avionics and flight-software integration, and integrated ground and flight tests. The objective is to validate vertical take-off and landing, autonomous guidance and control, and rapid reusability at the vehicle level, thereby de-risking the architecture for scaling to a fully reusable orbital launch system.
The Team
Kajal Rajbhar -
CEO
Co-founder and CEO at spantrik building fullly reusable rockets. I have led the design, build, and hot-testing of an in-house cryogenic rocket engine and the execution of a VTVL reusability flight program.
Growth Roadmap
Spantrik is currently in the development stage of its fully reusable Raven launch vehicle. Over the next 12-18 months, the company plans to complete the design and engineering of the rocket, conduct ground testing, and work towards the first test launch. Once the Raven is operational, Spantrik will focus on rapidly scaling its launch capabilities, aiming to achieve a cadence of 100 launches per year. The company also plans to continuously improve the Raven's performance and reliability, while exploring the development of larger and more capable reusable launch vehicles to support its long-term goal of enabling human life on Mars.
