Disha Raises Rs 43.88 Crore Series A to Grow Its AI Health Coaching App in India
Disha, the Bengaluru-based AI health coaching platform formerly known as Curelink, raised Rs 43.88 crore in a Series A round led by General Catalyst, which contributed Rs 38.20 crore of the total, with Elevation Capital adding Rs 5.20 crore and Flamel Performing Creatives contributing the remaining Rs 48 lakh. The round lifts Disha's post-money valuation to roughly Rs 288 crore, a 52% jump from the Rs 190 crore valuation of its previous round, and will go toward working capital, further development of its AI models, and expanding operations across the conditions it already treats.
What Disha Builds
Disha offers AI-powered health coaching with personalized diet, fitness and chronic-care support across 15 conditions, including PCOS, diabetes and thyroid disorders, delivered in Hindi, English and Hinglish with round-the-clock coaching access. The company reports 70 lakh sign-ups, 3 lakh active users and 1.4 crore coaching messages exchanged to date, a usage profile that looks closer to a consumer health app than a typical enterprise or clinical health-tech platform, and reflects a deliberate bet on multilingual, always-available coaching rather than the periodic check-in model most digital health platforms in India still default to.
Why Chronic-Care Coaching in Local Languages Is the Wedge
India's chronic disease burden, diabetes, thyroid conditions and PCOS chief among them, has grown large enough that clinical capacity alone cannot cover ongoing lifestyle coaching for every diagnosed patient, and most existing digital health platforms in the country have concentrated on acute care, diagnostics or pharmacy delivery rather than the slower, higher-touch work of daily coaching. Disha's multilingual approach, treating Hindi and Hinglish as first-class languages rather than an English-first product with translation bolted on, is a specific bet that the addressable market for chronic-care coaching in India is far larger than the English-fluent, urban, app-native segment most consumer health-tech has targeted so far, and its reported sign-up volume suggests that bet is finding real demand.
What This Means for Founders
Disha's raise is a useful data point for any founder building consumer health-tech in India or in another large, linguistically diverse market. The 52% valuation step-up on a follow-on round, rather than a flat or down round, signals that investors are rewarding demonstrated engagement depth, active users and message volume, over simple sign-up counts, and a founder pitching a similar chronic-care or coaching platform should lead with retention and usage-intensity metrics rather than top-line registration numbers. The multilingual product decision is also worth studying directly: building for Hindi and Hinglish from the start, rather than treating localization as a later expansion step, appears to have been a real driver of Disha's user base rather than a defensive move, a sequencing lesson that applies well beyond health-tech to any consumer product targeting India's broader population outside its English-fluent metro segment.
