Venture Capital Firms in India 2026: Seven Funds Raising or Investing New Capital Now

Founders searching for a list of venture capital firms in India usually find long lists that mix active funds with firms that have not raised in years. This list is narrower. It covers seven India-focused firms that have announced, raised or reported new capital in 2026, with the stage each one backs and the check size where it has been disclosed. Fund sizes are as reported and several are targets, not closes.

1. Peak XV Partners

Peak XV announced in February 2026 that it had raised $1.3 billion across three funds: an India Seed Fund, an India Venture Fund and an APAC Fund. The firm, formerly Sequoia Capital India and Southeast Asia, became independent in 2023. Leadership has said checks range from single-digit millions to as much as $100 million, with a focus on AI, fintech and consumer technology and a push into deep technology. Reports said the firm does not name its limited partners but that many are endowments and foundations. For a founder, the seed fund is the relevant door for a first round, while the venture fund suits companies with early traction.

2. Lightspeed India Partners V

Lightspeed is raising a $250 million early-stage fund for India focused on AI, according to TechCrunch, which saw an investor letter in late September 2026. Commitments were reported to cover about 80% of the target, and the firm planned to begin investing within two months over an investment period of about two and a half years. The fund is half the size of the $500 million India fund raised in 2022, and the firm described the smaller size as a way to concentrate on individual deals. It will look for AI companies in India and Southeast Asia.

3. F2A (Fundamentum Frontier Advisors)

F2A secured Rs 3,000 crore in subscriptions in October 2026 for a growth-stage fund focused on AI and deeptech, with Nandan Nilekani as an anchor investor. It plans 12 to 15 investments of Rs 100 crore to Rs 200 crore each over two to three years. These are growth checks, so this fund is for companies with proven revenue, not for a first round.

4. Z47

Z47, formerly Matrix Partners India, closed its fourth fund at more than $550 million and announced it in May 2023. It rebranded in July 2024 and invests from seed through early growth. Reports say the firm has been seeking a new fund of $300 million to $400 million, though that figure is as reported and not a confirmed close.

5. NABVENTURES Fund II

NABVENTURES, the venture arm of NABARD, raised Rs 450 crore at a first close of its second fund against a target of Rs 1,500 crore. It plans to invest Rs 30 crore to Rs 70 crore per company in growth-stage and technology-driven businesses across agriculture and the rural economy, with a focus on productivity, sustainability and farmers' incomes. It suits agritech and rural-focused founders who have moved past the seed stage.

6. Capria India Fund III

A filing on October 13, 2026 reported $19.3 million for Capria India Fund III. The firm's public plan, reported in 2024, was a $100 million target with an option to reach $125 million, backing 25 to 30 seed and pre-Series A companies with checks of $500,000 to $2 million. That is the stated plan and not a confirmed close. It is one of the few funds on this list aimed at the earliest rounds.

7. BlackLane Capital

CoinSwitch Ventures rebranded as BlackLane Capital in October 2026 and widened its focus beyond Web3 into fintech, enterprise infrastructure, consumer applications and digital assets. The firm plans to invest up to $5 million per startup and to help facilitate more than $100 million of funding over five years. It was founded in 2022 and has backed more than 26 startups.

How to Read This List as a Founder Looking for Seed Funding in India

Match the fund to your stage. Capria, BlackLane and the seed funds at Peak XV and Lightspeed are the likeliest fits for a pre-seed or seed round. Z47 and the Peak XV venture fund suit a Series A. F2A and NABVENTURES write much larger checks and are for later stages.

Target sizes are not the same as money raised. A fund that says it is raising may close at a different amount, and one that has closed may already have deployed much of it. Ask a firm directly how much capital is available and how many new investments it plans in the next year.

How to Approach Indian Venture Firms

A warm introduction from a portfolio founder remains the most reliable route. When you write, state your stage, your traction in one sentence and the amount you are raising, and say why the firm's focus fits your company. Share a short deck and be clear about your lead investor plans and the dilution you expect from the round.
