Top Fintech and Crypto Investors 2026: 4 Funds Raising
Founders building in payments, lending or blockchain often search for investors by sector, and the list of firms that are actively opening funds is short. These four fintech and crypto investors opened or reported new vehicles between July and September 2026. They are ranked by the amount reported on those vehicles, and amounts are what the firms reported so far, so they are not final fund sizes.
- Pantera Capital: Its main Pantera Blockchain Fund reported $1.27 billion on September 4, plus a separate offshore vehicle with $16 million. Pantera is one of the longest-running crypto investors and manages roughly $3.5 billion to $3.8 billion across its strategies, according to public profiles. Best fit: infrastructure and protocol companies with a large market.
- Tribe Capital: Tribe Capital Fintech Fund III reported $19.5 million on August 7, with CEO Boris Revsin as the contact. The firm is known for a data-driven approach to picking companies. Best fit: fintech founders who can show clear cohort and growth metrics.
- Asymmetric Financial: Its Bitcoin DeFi Venture Fund I reported $16.8 million on August 31. The firm is led by Joe McCann, and the fund was launched under general partner Dan Held with a stated focus on Bitcoin decentralized finance. Best fit: early-stage Bitcoin infrastructure builders.
- a16z crypto: A new fund vehicle, AH Crypto Fund V-B, was opened on July 16 without a reported amount. The firm closed its fifth crypto fund at $2.2 billion in May 2026, about half the size of its $4.5 billion predecessor. Best fit: crypto companies at seed through growth with real-world adoption.
What the Ranking Shows
Capital in this category is concentrated. One firm accounts for most of the dollars reported, while the other three are small vehicles of a few tens of millions. a16z crypto's new fund is half the size of its last one, and public reports describe a weak market, so firms are raising smaller funds and being more selective.
How Founders Should Use This List
For a fintech startup, the closest match is usually a firm that has recently opened a vehicle in your exact niche, because it has fresh capital and a stated focus. Lead with the problem you solve and show metrics: growth, retention and the cost to acquire a customer. Crypto founders should also show why their product works in a market that is currently quiet. Whichever firm you approach, ask how much of its current fund is still available and how it decides on follow-on rounds.
What This Means for Founders
A smaller, specialist fund can be easier to reach than a large firm, and its partners often write the first check. When you plan a seed round or Series A, look at who opened a vehicle in the last quarter and read what they have published. Understand how a lead investor will approach your round before you send a cold email.
