$22.25 Billion Filed in One Day. One Manager Raised Half of It.

On August 13, 2026, 198 vehicles filed capital disclosures totaling $22.25 billion. That is a significant single-day total. But the headline obscures something more interesting: $10.7 billion of it — 48% of everything filed — came from a single manager. AQR Capital Management, led by Cliff Asness, filed 17 vehicles in a single day, ranging from the $4.33 billion AQR Emerging Equities Fund to a cluster of AQR Flex Series SPVs. One quant platform, 17 structures, nearly half a day's capital.
Why concentration like this happens
AQR operates at a scale where it routinely files multiple strategies under a single regulatory umbrella. Each vehicle represents a different risk premia, investor type, or strategy sleeve. The Emerging Equities fund targets developing markets equity. The Delta Fund II captures alternative risk premia. The Absolute Return fund is market-neutral. The Flex Series SPVs are deal-by-deal structures for specific LP relationships. All of them filed on the same day because AQR operates a continuous rolling close model across its fund families.
What the remaining $11.55 billion looks like
Outside AQR, the day produced Eagle Harbor's $1.98 billion twin-vehicle filing, TPG's $893 million private equity vehicle, Fort Davis's $833 million fund, Blue Owl's $815 million GP Stakes pair, and a cluster of hedge funds from Capula, Galibier, and Crosslink. The VC total for the day came to $130 million across 21 vehicles with disclosed capital — less than one percent of the full $22.25 billion.
What this means for founders
When a single quant manager represents half a day's capital formation, it underscores how little of the public capital disclosure universe is actually relevant to you. The $130 million in VC is your market. The $22.25 billion headline is noise.
